For more than 45 years, I’ve dedicated my career to designing, manufacturing, selling, and supporting high-capacity forklifts.

During that time, we brought together some of the most respected names in the industry. We acquired Silent Hoist, Auto Lift, Elwell-Parker, Royal Tractor, and Clark’s large-capacity forklift business. The combination of Silent Hoist and Clark’s heavy-duty products became Hoist Liftruck Manufacturing, a company we continued to grow until it was acquired by Toyota Industries in 2019.

That history represents generations of engineering, manufacturing, and customer support.

Today, with Royal Rig-N-Lift, our mission is very different from what many people assume.

We are not trying to compete with the company we built and sold. We continue to value our relationship with Toyota and remain one of their largest Hoist dealers.

Instead, Royal’s focus is on low-volume, highly specialized forklifts that complement the products we purchase from Toyota. These are machines designed for unique applications where standard production models don’t always meet the customer’s needs. If one of our manufacturing partners doesn’t offer the right solution, Royal has the engineering experience to design and build it.

One thing I’ve learned over four decades is that reputation isn’t built with marketing.

It’s built by designing equipment that performs safely in demanding applications.

It’s built by manufacturing quality products.

It’s built by standing behind your machines for decades.

It’s built by investing in engineering, prototype testing, product validation, documentation, parts inventory, and a service organization capable of supporting customers wherever they operate.

Over the years, we’ve built and serviced thousands of high-capacity cushion tire forklifts ranging from 20,000 to 140,000 pounds, serving aluminum mills, steel mills, automotive plants, foundries, machinery movers, ports, and manufacturers throughout North America.

Over the coming months, I’m going to share what it really takes to build a successful forklift manufacturer—from engineering and prototype testing to manufacturing, product liability, field service, and long-term customer support.

Building a great forklift company takes decades.

Customers deserve to understand the difference between decades of proven experience and marketing claims.
